School Swimming at Gayton Pool

The new pool is a purpose built teaching pool, dimensions are 17.25m x 9m x 0.9m x 1.2m. We have separate changing facilities for male and female and both rooms have their own toilet facilities, showers are on poolside for your use before and after swimming. There is disabled access to the pool with a hoist and a separate disabled changing room.

Benefits to your school

You will have the sole use of the pool. Fully qualified ASA teachers and NPLQ Qualified lifeguards. They all attend regular training which is provided by the pool.

Transfer from Other pools

Schools already contracted to the City Council for swimming will be released from the contract to change to Gayton Pool if they wish to transfer

Swimming Supervision and Tuition

Qualified Swimming Teacher. Qualified Lifeguard on site whenever the pool is in use.


30 children can be accommodated in the pool at any one time.


Can be taught in Lanes swimming lengths

Advanced swimmers

May be taught as a training session in lanes.

Lesson plans will be taken from the A.S.A. National Plan for Teaching Swimming. This covers all of the requirements of the National Curriculum.

School Staff are welcome to visit the pool, see a lesson if they wish, and discuss health and safety requirements. Copies of the NOP and Risk Assessments are available.
